The Resistance Movement visited the historic H.C. Andersen Christmas Market in Odense on 10 December. The market is one of the city’s largest and most traditional cultural offerings, drawing up to 50,000 guests from home and abroad to the cobblestone square in the middle of Odense. Resistance Movement activists visited the square for a couple of hours, spreading the Christmas spirit and wishing a sea of people a Merry White Christmas.

Dressed in activist jackets and Santa hats, the activists carried leaflets from Winter Aid, a relief organisation operated by the Nordic Resistance Movement. Winter Aid collects items to give to poor and homeless White Danes of the European race. The leaflet informs people about what National Socialism is and what kind of things we collect to give to our people in need: winter jackets, woollen underclothes, winter boots, gloves, hats, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and tents. Hundreds of leaflets were handed out to the Christmas market guests, along with encouragement to contact the organisation if they have anything to donate to the work of Winter Aid.

The activists also brought along two sacks of Christmas presents so the children at the market could take a little something home with them. The presents were quickly and eagerly accepted by the children, while the parents received a leaflet and were wished a Merry White Christmas.

How many visited the Christmas market on the day is unknown, but the streets were packed with people, the vast majority of whom were positive about seeing the Resistance Movement and hearing about Winter Aid and National Socialism. Very few people complained about the sight of National Socialists on the square. One of those who did was the well-known Socialist People’s Party politician Karsten Hønge, who got violently angry and said loudly to an activist – rather confusingly – “I only have two words to say to you! Piss off to hell!”

A little confused by the Marxist politician’s counting skills, but not further affected by his histrionics, the Resistance men continued the activity. During the hours spent at the Christmas market, the activists had many good talks with shoppers, many of whom appeared particularly supportive of the desire to help our own people in need, rather than sending aid out of the country.

The police came to the square for a brief visit, but only took a quick look at an activist’s jacket before disappearing again without making contact.

All in all it was a good Saturday at H.C. Andersen Christmas Market, for the activists, Winter Aid and the Nordic Resistance Movement. Winter Aid expects to distribute items to those in need as soon as donations are received.

We wish everyone a very Happy White Christmas!
