On Saturday 4 June, activists from Nest 1 held a protest action in Stockholm ahead of the multinational Baltops military exercise that takes place from 5 to 16 June. The 2022 Baltops exercise involves over 40 ships from 14 Nato countries – together with Sweden and Finland – conducting operations and training exercises in the Baltic Sea.

The action was held at Stadsgården Quay, where ships from countries such as the USA, Germany and Poland were anchored.

The Resistance men lined up with a banner with the text “Nato, Go Home!”, while an activist gave a speech via megaphone and declared to the ships’ crews that Nato and their cohorts are not welcome in Sweden.

Many curious Stockholmers visited the quay on the day to look at the ships, which gave the protest great exposure. Several people stopped to ask why the Nordic Resistance Movement is against Nato membership, and discussions took place with those who were both for and against Swedish membership in the war alliance.

After about an hour of megaphone announcements, the banner was rolled up and the participants went on to Frihamnen port, where more ships were anchored. There, they repeated the same process they had carried out at Stadsgården.

All in all, it was a successful activity against imperialist rule and warmongering.
